JW Marriott Maldives Resort and Spa has announced an exciting collaboration with renowned Japanese chef Fumio Yonezawa. The event, called A Taste of No Code, will take place on October 28 and will offer guests a rare opportunity to experience the chef’s signature Omakase style in an intimate setting.
This special dinner marks the beginning of the TARO Japanese Chef Series, a partnership with TARO, a Japan based luxury travel media brand known for curating exclusive cultural and culinary experiences.
Chef Fumio Yonezawa is the founder of No Code in Tokyo, a restaurant celebrated for its creativity and seasonal focus. With no fixed menu, No Code is known for offering a poetic and personal take on Japanese cuisine. Chef Yonezawa started his career at Trattoria Il Boccalone in Ebisu and later trained under the acclaimed chef Jean Georges in New York. He became the first Japanese sous chef at the Michelin starred Jean Georges restaurant. In 2014, he returned to Japan to lead Jean Georges Tokyo before opening No Code in 2022.
The dining event at JW Marriott Maldives will be held at the resort’s Wine Room, located inside Aailaa restaurant. The Wine Room houses more than 1600 bottles and over 300 labels, offering the perfect setting for a five course wine pairing dinner. Chef Yonezawa will prepare each dish personally, using premium Wagyu and fresh locally sourced tuna. Each course will reflect his unique culinary vision that blends precision, creativity and sustainability.
In addition to the one night dinner, Marriott Bonvoy members will have a chance to bid for a Marriott Bonvoy Moments experience. The package includes a four night stay at JW Marriott Maldives Resort and Spa, along with a two night culinary journey with Chef Yonezawa. The stay will take place from October 26 to 30 and includes a mix of island inspired events and fine dining experiences.
The Moments package begins with a cocktail evening using ingredients from the resort’s JW Garden, followed by a welcome dinner with Chef Yonezawa. On October 27, the experience continues with the chef’s signature Omakase wine pairing dinner. Guests will spend two nights in an Overwater Pool Villa and two nights in a Beach Pool Villa. The stay also includes breakfast at Aailaa, a 50 minute aromatherapy treatment at the resort’s spa, and shared seaplane transfers from Velana International Airport.
Speaking about the collaboration, Chef Yonezawa said, “During my training years in New York, I was captivated by the artistry of combining Eastern essence with Western cuisine. From that point, I wanted to create dishes that tell such a story. I am very excited to bring the No Code philosophy to the Maldives and present creations that reflect both imagination and local ingredients.”
General Manager Mohit Dembla added, “This collaboration with Chef Yonezawa and TARO reflects our focus on thoughtful hospitality and culinary excellence. We look forward to welcoming guests to connect with each dish and enjoy the mindful luxury that defines our resort.”
JW Marriott Maldives Resort and Spa is located in Shaviyani Atoll and is known for offering a peaceful and elegant escape for guests of all ages. The resort is designed to create meaningful moments, combining luxury, creativity and nature in every stay.
Marriott Bonvoy members can place bids for the exclusive package until September 15. The experience brings together modern Japanese gastronomy, luxury travel and the natural beauty of the Maldives in one unforgettable journey.
