
At the third instance of the MATI Insight forum, the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) organized the event today in H. Meerumaa in the Malé capital to bring members of the association, senior government officials, and technical experts, as well as important stakeholders in the industry. The event provided a platform to exchange knowledge, have discussions, and exchange insights around two key themes Sales and Revenue and Engineering.
The meeting began with a minute of silence to remember the late Mr. Mohamed Umar Maniku, who was the Chairman of MATI when he died on 30 August 2025.
The Sales and Revenue morning was dedicated to Sales and Revenue and was presented by experts. Ms. Victoria Rossi, Business Development Manager, Asia, Yango Ads, conversed on on Russian Speaking Travellers: Insights and Trends. Mr. Hospitality Performance Pulse was presented by Karan Mahesh, Senior Sales South and southeast Asia at STR, CoStar Group and he compared key measures of the Maldives tourism industry with those of the competitors. Mr. Calvin Li, the Executive Vice President and the Head of the Transaction Advisory Services at JLL, ended with “Tourism Trends & ROI: Maldives vs Asia-Pacific Competitors”. All the presentations were accompanied by interactive question and answer sessions and then a networking lunch.
The afternoon was then followed by an Engineering session which held a panel discussion on Integrated Water, Sewerage, and Waste Management in Island Resorts with Mr. Hassan Saeed of Dhigali Maldives, and then a presentation on integration of renewable energy by Dr. Simad Saeed of CDE Consulting. Dr. The second panel on “Renewable Energy Integration, Power and Electrical Systems Resilience” that was moderated by Saeed involved the technical leaders in the industry sector-wide. The event ended with high tea and networking, which further strengthened MATI Insight as a place to collaborate and look into the future in the Maldives tourism industry.
