TMA Celebrated as Global Seaplane Leader at 2025 World Travel Awards

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has re-emerged as a global-acclaimed company taking two significant awards at the 32 nd annual world travel awards 2025. The airline was also named World Leading Seaplane Operator 2025 and Indian Ocean Leading Seaplane Operator 2025, thanks to its continued role in the Maldives tourism. This was inaugurated at Exhibition World Bahrain, where more than 300 leaders of the industry around the world were present.

TMA started its operations in the year 1993 and has since then been instrumental in linking the islands of the Maldives which are far in between. The airlines is presently running the largest seaplanes fleet in the world of 65 DHC-6 Twin Otters, operating to over 80 resort destinations. TMA operates more than 400 flights per day and remains a dependable carrier throughout the extensive network of the country, which is covered with its flights.

According to the CEO A.U.M. Fawzy, the repeated recognition is an indication of the trust that is put on the team and the responsibility they bear in connecting resort destinations. He said that the company is also determined to improve continuously as the tourism industry of Maldives continues to grow.

TMA is also optimizing its business by investing in fleet improvements, infrastructure and technology to promote national tourism and to make sure that visitors to the archipelago travel smoothly.
