Nexus Hospitality has announced Saad Kassis-Mohamed as its new chairman and revealed a long-term expansion strategy focused on sustainable resort development in the Maldives.
The company’s multi-year plan includes a mix of new builds and resort conversions across North Malé and South Malé Atolls. Openings will begin as early as the 2025 to 2026 season, with further projects depending on infrastructure readiness and local engagement.
Nexus aims to set new standards in transparency and sustainability, embedding reef-safe practices, on-island solar energy, and fresh water recovery systems into all operations. A strong focus will also be placed on local hiring, with structured training programs for Maldivians in culinary, marine, and guest service roles.
“Our Maldives strategy is simple. Build intelligently, operate transparently, and leave the reefs better than we found them,” said Saad Kassis-Mohamed.
Amira El Bashir, CEO of Nexus Hospitality, added that the expansion is tied to board oversight and site selection that supports long-term ecological and economic success.
Resorts will feature seaplane lounge partnerships, wellness-focused programs, and chef-led dining, catering to longer stay and higher-spend travellers. The portfolio will offer a mix of private retreats and premium accessible stays designed for both celebration and extended vacations.
The company will track metrics such as energy use, water recovery, reef health, and local employment to ensure clear progress and accountability as part of its development model.
