This month, Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge was held from 9th October to 12 October 2022 alongside the Exhibition. Endorsed by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS) the gastronomical challenge, saw the participation of 700 competitors from 70 various resorts in the Maldives.
In this year’s edition of the Culinary Challenge, Reethi Beach Resort partook in 7 different categories and are the proud winners of 7 titles at the event. Led by the expert guidance of the Executive Chef, Farish Mukhtar the culinary team from the resort displayed exceptional skill in curating sumptuous cuisines that will indulge the most discerning of palates. The Reethi Beach Resort consisted of four members, all of whom managed to take home medals at the event.
The four ambitious chefs of the kitchen are Dishan Diluka, Shehan Maduwantha, Prabath Rathnayake and Mangala Weerasinghe. During the event Dishan Diluka won the bronze medal in Hot Cooking Fish Fillet category after competing with 247 participants. He also won the silver medal in Vegetarian Dish category, beating 179 participants to the title.
Shehan Maduwantha scored two at the challenge, a silver in the Hot Cooking Beef category and a bronze in the Hot Cooking Fish Fillet category. Meanwhile, Prabath Rathnayake bagged two bronzes in the competition, flexing his culinary excellence in the Cooking Poultry and Creative Salad categories. Lastly, Mangala Weerasinghe took home the bronze in the sweet section under the Decorative Cake category, bringing the total of medals to 2 silvers and 5 bronzes.
When the award-winning team arrived at the resort, the awardees were warmly received by the management and staff after a grand welcome. Their win further reaffirms the place Reethi Beach Resort upholds in the competitive culinary scene of the Maldives.
