Pablo Escobar’s Hideout to $100 Million Resort

“Everyone has a price. The important thing is to find out what it is.”- Pablo Escobar.

Global real estate leader Thor Equities Group bought Casa Magna, part of a beachfront compound once owned by Escobar, for $17.5 million. It plans to spend as much as $100 million to develop 40 luxury hotel rooms, a spa, and high-end shops. The hotel prices of this can run as high as $2,000 per night, according to Mexico News Daily.

Originally built in 1992, the late Colombian drug lord’s property sits about a kilometer from the nature reserve Sian Ka'an, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and 15 kilometers from the archaeological region of Tulum, which is home to Mayan ruins and considered to be one of the world's best-preserved Mayan sites.
