Niyama Private Islands Maldives has announced its bold transformation under the theme “THIS IS NIYAMA” — introducing fully refurbished villas, elevated levels of luxury, and immersive new experiences that invite guests to live life on their own terms, unscripted and unbound.
Since its unveiling in 2012, Niyama has carved out a distinct identity in the Maldives with its bold playfulness. Now, the resort raises the bar further, blending effortless luxury with the avant-garde, surreal, and one-of-a-kind. The refreshed Niyama brings a stylish evolution across its twin islands, Play and Chill, with redesigned villas, dining venues, and leisure facilities — all infused with the unmistakable energy of Niyama.
Accommodations now feature a lighter palette, all-new furnishings, high-design comfort, and sleek technology. Expanded interiors give guests more room to unwind and reconnect. The beach villas, described as spacious playgrounds where guests are free to simply be, now glow with the colours of sunset. High-tech features include espresso machines, popcorn makers, and smart entertainment, all easily accessible at the touch of a button.
Dining reaches new creative heights at Nest, the resort’s treetop restaurant. Redesigned and relandscaped to fully immerse guests in the surrounding jungle, it now features teppanyaki sizzle and Southeast Asian spice. As dusk falls, the area comes alive with glowing lights and the natural call of birds.
Below the ocean’s surface, Subsix unveils the world’s first underwater Nikkei tasting experience. Guests are treated to a five-course menu as surreal as the setting itself, surrounded by coral and circling sea life including reef sharks and turtles.
Dune invites guests to unwind in style with poolside lounging by day, a bold new menu inspired by Maldivian fire, and cocktails and shisha by sunset.
For those seeking a more relaxed, vibrant vibe, the Surf Shack on the western tip of Play has been expanded. It now offers sunset views, rum cocktails, DJ beats, and the sound of crashing waves — all coming together for a uniquely magical atmosphere.
With a world-class left-hand wave breaking right on the shore, a resident pro surfer, and one-of-a-kind surf safaris, Niyama offers the Maldives’ most luxurious way to surf. A new marine centre adds another layer to the guest experience, offering hands-on conservation activities led by the resort’s in-house marine biologist.
Families are also welcomed with an upgraded kids’ club. Nestled in the jungle, it now includes a splash park, climbing wall, slides, and trampolines. Daily schedules are packed with snorkelling, dolphin sailing, gourmet lunches, and even mini-spa treatments.
