MMPRC Takes The Maldivian Destination To WTM Africa & South Africa

The World Travel Market (WTM) Africa is being hosted at Cape Town, South Africa from 3rd-5th April 2023. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and 21 partners are representing the Maldives at WTM Africa, bringing the Sunny Side of the Life to the rainbow nation.

WTM Africa is the continent’s leading and only business-to-business (B2B) exhibition for inbound and outbound African travel and tourism markets and draws up to 6000 travel industry professionals from around the world. Launched in 2014, WTM Africa aims to bring the benefits and opportunities of its global industry expertise to the region and is allied with corporate travel decision-makers, investors, tour operators & travel agents as well as other travel trade professionals.

The Maldives is displayed at a stand spanning 60 sqm with the spellbinding natural beauty of the destination taking centre stage. The design behind the stand supports the idea of having an ideal place to experience the destination and its offerings while still conducting productive meetings and hosting trade surveys and social media amplification promotions. Visit Maldives and its industry partners are also showcasing their products, experiences, and segments of the Maldivian tourism scene to visitors as well.

Through participating in the fair, MMPRC will be able to augment brand presence in the South African market, make valuable connections and networking with the African travel trade and offer the latest information on the happenings back home. Additionally, it will also help establish Maldives as a preferred destination for potential long-haul holidaymakers, achieve targeted growth for tourism products and boost arrivals from different segments.

In recent years, South Africa has become a prominent market to the Maldives with constant growth recorded year after year. The South African Market also shows strong interest towards the Maldives as a holiday destination which is why MMPRC is driving in efforts to promote the destination in this emerging market. A joint marketing campaign with Thompsons Holidays is in the pipeline for this market this year.
