Media Officials from US Gets The High-End Experience of True Maldivian Hospitality

Thursday 21st of July 2022

For media representatives from the United States, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) organized a familiarization trip with the theme "High-end Adventures in the Maldives" (US). On the invitation of MMPRC, the team descended upon the Maldives on July 13 and stayed until July 20, 2022.

This familiarization trip resulted in extensive coverage showcasing high-end accommodations and experiences, ranging from gastronomy and wellness to watersports and other distinctive experiences offered in the Maldives. This coverage was generated by numerous world-class publications targeting a highly wealthy audience in the USA market. This trip also brought home the distinct geographical benefit of having our islands dispersed throughout the Indian Ocean and our distinctive one island, one resort concept, which makes the Maldives one of the world's safest vacation spots.

The team spent time at Joali Maldives Resort, Anantara Kihavah Resort, and LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort, where they were hosted. Here, they took advantage of the upscale excursions, renowned Maldivian hospitality, one-of-a-kind experiences, and various cuisines that were offered at their host establishments. It is anticipated that this trip will increase US arrivals and Maldives bookings.

The US is the Maldives' sixth-largest source market so far this year. A total of 39,016 visitors from the US arrived in the Maldives by June 29th, 2022. This represents 4.8 percent of the 809,603 arrivals that were counted overall during this time period. A campaign with Worth Magazine, participation in ATTA's AdventureELEVATE 2022 fair, a travel trade webinar, and a joint marketing campaign with Goway are just a few of the activities MMPRC has been holding to target this market. Campaigns with ASTA, ID Travel Group, and Singapore Airlines are ongoing for this market. For the US market this year, a number of additional marketing and advertising initiatives are planned.

In 22 different countries last year, MMPRC conducted 260 different marketing activities, such as roadshows, familiarization tours, marketing campaigns, webinars, and interviews. The Maldives won the title of "World's Leading Destination" at the 2021 World Travel Awards, which are regarded as the gold standard of the travel industry, late last year, which is the greatest testament to the success of these initiatives. The Maldives have successfully attained this prestigious title for the second year in a row, which is a shining example of the confidence that tourists from all over the world have in the "magic of Maldivian hospitality."
