Maldives to be Marketed in an Outdoor Marketing Campaign in UK

With the travel and tourism industry hitting a huge run-down this year, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has been taking a series of measures to position the Maldives as a safe and secure destination to travel.

In order to promote the Maldives as a safe haven for travellers, MMPRC has launched an outdoor campaign in some of the most substantial parts of the UK. The campaign, which will run for two months, will be showcased in London’s most prominent areas, Kensington roadside, Waterloo station, Westfield London mall, Liverpool Street Station, Blackfriars Station, Cannon Street Station, City Thameslink Station and Fenchurch Street Station.

UK has traditionally been a strong market for the Maldives, holding a total of 7288 visitors before the lockdown in March and 1587 after the border reopening. In a statement by MMPRC, they reveal that with UK showing such strength in terms of arrivals post-lockdown, MMPRC strives to continue increasing the popularity of the destination within this market. MMPRC reveals that the main aim of the marketing campaign is to portray Maldives as the ideal choice for long haul travels and gain brand exposure to a large number of Londoners, so that they will be encouraged to choose Maldives as their next holiday destination

From all of the locations in London, Waterloo station is the busiest bus station in the UK and houses the largest indoor digital screen in Europe. The Waterloo station is also a major railway and underground station in London, making it the perfect spot to grab the attention of a majority of the UK market.

The photos and materials published as part of the campaign will showcase Maldives with its geographically isolated islands, highlighting the safety of a one-island-one-resort concept. A series of exciting activities that tourists can experience on their vacation in the Maldives will also be highlighted.

Throughout this year, Maldives went through major promotional activities in BBC Travel Show, UNITE Indian Ocean and Middle East Event and Travel Weekly, as well as through familiarization trips and several online and print articles.
