JW Marriott Maldives Resort and Spa has already become the first recipient of the Green Globe certification the significant step on the path to sustainable hospitality. Set in the Shaviyani Atoll, the resort represents the combination of the luxury and the environmentally responsible product, establishing the new standards of the environmentally conscious travelling in the Indian Ocean.
Its sustainability drive is based on the state-of-the-art water bottling facility fuelled by the EcoPure Waters purification system that has totally substituted individual consumable bottles with plastic. The resort has also minimized waste materials through bottling fresh water in reusable glass bottles, which have since saved more than 100,000 bottles each year and have saved the marine environment around the resort.
The JW Garden to Table and JW Garden to Glass experiences of the resort are another way of linking the guests to nature. The experiential courses invite visitors to pick herbs, vegetables, and tropical fruits in the 3,600-square-foot JW Garden and turn them into meals or cocktails with the assistance of professional chefs.
Sustainability is also applied to food sourcing where the resort will ensure that it procures 100 percent whole or minimally processed animal proteins and ethically sourced coffee, tea, and cocoa. The guest facilities and fabrics are manufactured out of biodegradable and sustainable fabrics affecting the environment in the whole.
With the help of the Serve 360 platform developed by Marriott International, JW Marriott Maldives has been demonstrating that responsibility is the true meaning of luxury, as it enhances memorable experiences and at the same time maintains the beauty of the Maldives to be enjoyed by generations to come.
