Inaugural Flight of Vistara Airlines from Mumbai to Male Touches Down at VIA

Vistara Airbus A320neo aircraft landed at Velana International Airport at 1225 hrs on March 3, 2021 with 164 passengers onboard. This marks the inauguration of direct scheduled flights from Mumbai, India to Male, Maldives, a milestone achievement for the tourism industry between the two destinations.

Redefining air travel in India to provide Indian travellers a seamless and personalized flying experience that blends Tata’s and SIA’s service excellence and legendary hospitality, Vistara has impressive accolades by the title of ‘Best Airlines’ numerous times.

As Vistara Airline starts its non-stop flights to VIA, it is the fourth Airline that operates direct from different parts of India. Yesterday’s flight was welcomed with a water salute organized by the Fire and Rescue Services of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). Under the travel bubble agreement between VIA and India, Vistara will fly three times weekly on BOM-MLE route.

During these challenging times, VIA has implemented high standards of safety measures across all touch points and with its staff management. Accrediting the stringent efforts to curb the virus, ACI Health Accreditation Certificate was awarded to VIA on September 2020 making it the second airport in the Asia Pacific region to earn the recognition. Additionally, the airport received the ACI Voice of the Customer recognition award in January 2021.

VIA rolled out its vaccination drive open to all staff on March 1, aiming to become the first among airport in the world to fully vaccinate its staff.
