Global hospitality expert Juan Carlos Diago to lead JEN Maldives

JEN Maldives, Malé by Shangri-La has announced the appointment of Juan Carlos Diago as its new General Manager, effective 23rd March 2025.

Juan Carlos brings with him over 40 years of international hospitality experience across nine resorts and twelve city hotels. Known for his dynamic leadership and commitment to excellence, he has worked with some of the world’s most respected hotel brands, including Hilton, Shangri-La, IHG, Marriott, and Universal Music Hotels & Resorts.

Fluent in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, and several Asian languages, Juan Carlos brings a unique multicultural perspective to his new role. His strengths lie in strategic sales, marketing, revenue and asset management, and digital transformation—particularly in integrating AI tools for business optimisation.

Throughout his career, he has held senior roles in major cities such as Bangkok, Miami, Cartagena, Cancun, and Bogotá. His experience in hotel openings, renovations, and resort operations makes him ideally suited to lead JEN Maldives into its next phase of growth.

Before joining JEN Maldives, he served as Senior Hotel Consultant and Development Advisor at Universal Music Hotels & Resorts, focusing on expansion across South America and the Caribbean.
