The award-winning property, Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa recently hosted legendary cricketer Brian Lara and his family in the Maldives as they enjoyed an active and relaxing vacation in the Indian Ocean destination. During their stay, they explored the resort’s numerous offerings and experiences, ranging from exquisite dining to rejuvenating spa treatments and ocean adventures.

At the end of May, Brian Lara and his family were posted at the Sultan Beach Residence – the largest 4-bedroom Signature Collection Residence on the property, which enjoyed sweeping views of the ocean and spectacular Maldivian sunsets. Moreover, the accommodation choice also provided exclusive access to Hideaway’s teeming house reef, located just a short walk from the villa and the white powdery beach.

Hideaway offers multiple recreational activities and popular cuisines at the resort, which highly appealed to the revered guest. At the recreational centre, Brian Lara found the perfect activity to indulge in with a top-notch golf stimulator stationed to entertain guests. He also explored the thriving house reef through a thrilling snorkelling excursion which enabled him to discover the celebrated underwater beauty of the Maldives with its vibrant anemones and colourful coral gardens.

Speaking about his experience, Brian Lara recounted, “Hideaway has instantly become my favourite destination ever since I stepped foot on the island. The natural beauty, the amazing marine life, and the elegant resort design are simply mesmerizing. But more than that, it’s the warmth of the people which made our stay exceptional.”

A former Trinidadian international cricketer, Brian Lara is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He has continuously topped the Test batting rankings and holds numerous cricketing records, including the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994 – which is the only quintuple-hundred scored in first-class cricket history.

Since its opening in 2022, The Signature Collection at Hideaway has served as a preferred destination for many celebrities including A-list movie stars and sports figures who have stayed at the breathtaking resort for both romantic and family vacations.
