Cinnamon Hotels Maldives Unites for Earth Day 2025

Saturday 26th of April 2025

To mark Earth Day 2025, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives launched a series of meaningful environmental activities across its properties, inspired by this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” Guests and staff came together to honour nature, protect local ecosystems, and promote sustainability in hands-on, impactful ways.

At Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon, the day centred around a reef and seabed cleanup. Despite the resort’s strong eco-policies banning plastic, polythene, and nets, ocean currents still bring in ghost nets and marine debris. Staff and volunteers worked carefully to remove waste entangled in coral, helping to preserve the reef’s health and marine biodiversity.

Over at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives, guests and team members began the day by planting trees along the shoreline—an act symbolising long-term commitment to a greener planet. In the evening, the resort hosted a presentation highlighting its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives from the past year, encouraging continued participation and awareness among guests.

At Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives, Earth Day combined both marine and land-based efforts. Teams joined forces for a reef cleanup and planted trees on the island, reflecting the resort’s dual focus on protecting the ocean and improving the island’s natural landscape.

Earth Day 2025 was more than just a day on the calendar. It became a powerful reminder of shared responsibility. Through guest involvement and staff dedication, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives continues to embed sustainability into daily life, creating a stronger connection between people and the environment.
